While Years Pass
I stayed up late
for my own desire to discover
you as my own visual demands suggest.
What value have I placed on matters
beyond my soul,
or is that the confusion really.
What began as a selfie,
an indicator of a real person,
suddenly transforms my world to a quest,
not that of the shallow,
more aptly the desire to know purpose.
You do offer me that,
well beyond the holding gravel expanse
that might tease the cliff’s edge,
that slide we all fear might jump upon our lives.
my next day has arrived,
I haven’t changed – I wanted to years ago,
but how many years,
what measures a day,
when one can visualize truth
as a chance taken,
a blessed forgiveness,
a virtue unseen, yet heard in the mind.
We are one, if we might choose to engage.
