this is that piece we play with,
hesitating to step inside,
we know it always remains
yet there a certain wall,
call it an invisible gaffe
that seldom is penetrated.
therefore when standing here,
I can look at it, imagine its dimensions,
I might even speculate how deep it is,
without going too close
until perhaps my confidence tells me,
that on the other side of that virtue,
exists the bigger piece of your soul,
waiting to capture the whole.
I choose to wait,
though this day,
earlier when the tears were strong,
I was there,
I could return to that place,
holds me in a static form of saturation.
I wanted to dive in,
but the water,
that resource to envelop my pain,
was too warm.
I needed the chill to forget myself
