Solace In Love
I walked outside tonight to feel the cool breeze,
iced my skin for the minutes I stood,
my mind wandering to a different sort of ease.
I didn’t have to wonder if love would.
I watched a neighbor pull leaves for the winter
turned to me with a vacant kind stare.
We laughed about the changing season together
I was compelled to know if he might dare.
There is a certain peace that occurs with time,
we adjust to the quiet world on our own.
When seventeen, I thought I understood rhyme
enough to finally feel my world is known.
Out there is a woman whom surely is love’s tender
In time, solace of romantic peace is love’s render.
