A Glance

I looked out the window of my classroom, the end of the day, the snow falling, imagining my weekend ahead. Such a beautiful snowfall. I opened a large curtain to let the natural light into the room. Behind me was a gathering of my students, screaming ‘Noooo’ indicating too much light. We laughed as the final bell rang, and I then had a seat where I took this picture.

I wanted to imagine sharing such an spectacular view, knowing exactly who that person might be. I wondered now how she might finish her day, her drive, hoping she would make it home safe. I reflected on how we both might react to such delightful afternoon, how we might hold one another close, feeling the passion of our touch, knowing how close our lips might be to one another, a yearning.

The yearn is always stronger as the weekend brings my other world away from the business of my classroom. I sat a few minutes longer embracing the beauty of memory inside the lovely illusion of fresh fallen snow.
