Oh to have such lovely lyrics
as those might I gently tell you
how wonderful it is
to know you, feel and love you.
Oh to know that certain melody
may touch my heart, feel your soul
when love is our simple truth
we live, we breathe, stay alive.
For us this is a sweet harmony
a favorite compact disc, a radio,
sleek in radiance an old vinyl
when the needle drops for you.
Oh to share such is wondrous emotion
splendid passion forever, you and me.

when once
is no longer enough
though promise
seems more apparent
in happier times
than
those we might loathe,
unspent energy
mooring upon the docks
a discarded
misfortune again
all is left
floating in a safe vacuum
beheld eyes take me
to the sea.

this pill, that pill
mix ’em all together
this pill, that pill
smokin’ hot asunder,
the mind, the body,
the night terrors
of an artificial stimulant
playing with the brain’s
own sweet vulnerability
And we wonder,
what is attraction,
is it peace of mind,
knowing we can love,
knowing love is real,
our lives,
your lives,
everyone is the same,
yet so different
it is easy to maim
that original concept of
what is real,
what matters in our lives.
that pill, this pill
running out of will

It’s that 2 am thing,
a full circle dream,
I once wondered about words
whether fatal or absurd,
how does the mind react
to some sort of despairing act
of response,
reaction, in such a staunch
society so set upon rigidity.
I can play with rhyme
throughout the twilight
into another day,
and yet
2 am
the pangs of loneliness
remain,
for what, for why,
there is no one to answer anyone
in a cry,
when the immediacy of
a longing,
seems miles away,
a silence
we might wish
never imagined.
