There was region of my mind,
a vast expanse of afterthought,
you know
the sort of mind-bending rationale
we use when replaying
a moment, those moments,
the minutes of our lives
we hang on to
never letting go of a memory
we hold sacred in our mind.
It seems so callous
when alone,
rather then being able
to look in her eyes
and say everything I feel
is because of you,
you alone
are responsible
for teaching me
that happiness
I longed for,
for near decades,
and in a short time,
when you did let me fall in your arms again,
a long line of fear
and indecision
stepped away,
and I knew
again,
in my mind,
I knew love.
