Think about it for a minute
we live our lives with a smile,
someone asks,
we have a volume of denial
walk inside the mind of a sinner
come to terms
their own agonizing pain,
often tucked away in the depths
of some remarkable
exterior confidence.
What happens when fatigue
settles in on the exhaustion
trying to find,
trying to find,
only attempts
without resolution.
I once could not possibly
ever remember,
a smile I held for genuine reason,
beyond the need to survive,
the desire to be thoughtful,
a quiet serenity
so rare throughout
years of humane
commonality.
I have loved
for now,
it will be all I ever have.
