Once I knew love
sitting directly across from me,
paging through magazines
in the school library.
~
It was then the hair on my back,
rose to recognize the moment
her glance was only to me,
no one else nearby to notice.
~
She wore green rain-boots
thigh high and quite elegant
speaking with her silence
a pensive maybe knowing smile.
~
Eventually rising with a pen in hand
the magazines never reaching the rack,
placed conspicuous on the table
remains in my sight with her glance.
~
She ventured away
while I waited to hear the library doors
clasp in their obvious manner
to suggest a student in departure.
~
It was then I discovered her cubicle,
pen in hand and a smile matched my own.
