A lick of candles,
welcoming the dawn,
a crisp air
enveloped my naked body.
I could see the morning sun
light peeking through my shutters,
the dancing figures on the wood,
as my room came alive
with the waking of the day.
I thought of what’s ahead
wondered where my heart would land.
A morning like this could be peaceful,
allowing just our thoughts
to wander in what direction
they would choose.
It would be up to us
to add emotion or
heartfelt love
to our surroundings.

to the flickering candles
