Keep that she would be his forever
in his mind
he imagined only her grace
would be a happy aspect
of her beauty
he might know
could be granted
the honor of holding court
with her quiet elegance.
he knew he could
never be right with
an eternal bond
inside her for now
he would only hold
the hope and compassion
she might offer
his aching soul
when a silent heart
might shatter.
he wanted her love
to be beyond
the obligatory
he endured
over half his life.
he wished
she would know
one day
this was no façade
this love
he had felt
no time in his life
except for the rapture
